Description

The 2026 Burton Mystery Deep Thinker has taken Danny Davis' Deep Thinker snowboard and has given it the Mystery treatment to make an extremely versatile and energetic snowboard. The lightweight Dragonfly II core with Multizone EGD and Mystery glassing gives you a snowboard that is not only incredibly responsive and lightweight, but one that offers responsive pop and speed where you need it most. Who could have thought that Danny's favourite snowboard could have gotten any better than it already was?

Board Type: Freeride-Powder

Park 3/10
All Mountain 7/10
Powder 10/10

Freeride snowboards are built for steeper, off-piste terrain. These boards are ideal for aggressive riding and usually for more advanced riders.

Powder snowboards are designed for deep snow. Generally these boards feature a directional shape with a tapered tail for better float and ease of riding.

Flex: 5.5/10 (1=soft, 10=stiff)

Offering a balanced blend of flexibility and stiffness, mid-flex boards are versatile and suitable for all-mountain riding. They provide enough responsiveness for carving while maintaining some forgiveness for playful or casual riding.

Ability Level: Advanced

Advanced snowboards are stiffer and more responsive, designed for high-speed control, precision riding, and handling challenging terrain or tricks.

Shape: Tapered Directional/Directional

A tapered directional snowboard features a shape where the tail is narrower than the nose, providing enhanced control and stability in deeper snow. This design improves floatation in powder and allows for smoother turns, making it ideal for freeride and backcountry riding. While it excels in one direction, the taper helps the board naturally guide you through challenging conditions.

Directional Flex increases pop in the tail of the board while having a stiffer nose that makes the board easier to control in all conditions.

Camber Type: Directional Camber

Directional Camber puts rocker in the nose of the board, adding extra float in powder while retaining the response and stability of traditional camber which offers unmatched power, response, and edge control.

Width: Standard

Standard width boards deliver exceptional edge-to-edge quickness and responsiveness while providing enough platform space for riders with average boot sizes.

Inserts: The Channel

The Burton Channel forgoes the traditional mounting system and introduces a channel for your front and rear inserts. This allows you to fine-tune your stance width and gives you more freedom in your stance location. The Channel is compatible with most major binding brands, but works best with Burton EST bindings.

Board Construction

Laminate: Mystery Glass

Burton are keeping this one confidential, but just be sure this is some feather-light, robotic-built, space age tech that simultaneously improves power, flex, and response.

Core: Dragonfly II 500G Core with Multizone EGD and Squeezebox

The Dragonfly II 500G Core is Burtons lightest ever core, which integrates carbon laminations inside the core which provides ultimate pop and performance with minimal materials.

Multizone EGD aligns the wood grain of the core along the heel and toe edge in four separate zones adjacent to the channel, channeling power from the source directly to the edges for ultimate strength and edge control.

Squeezebox consists of thicker, more powerful sections combined with thinner, more flexible sections profiled throughout the core. This enhances energy transfer and makes the board snappier and more stable.

Edge: Frostbite Edges

Edges that extend out slightly underneath your bindings for enhanced edge hold on hardpack and ice.

Base: Methlon

Methlon bases are the most durable and low maintenance you can that also provide ultra fast speeds when waxed.

Additional Features:

  • Balanced Freeride Geometry

A setback camber and stance-centred sidecut makes this board feel like a twin when riding flat based, but still has the tight turns and effortless float you'd expect from a directional board.

  • Infinite Ride

Burton is able to maximise pop and performance by overbuilding their boards in the factory, and then using machinery to break it down for you. This allows your board to ride the same from day one, to day 100, season after season.

    • Super Sap Epoxy

Super Sap is a bio-based resin that reduces the carbon footprint by 50% over conventional petroleum-based epoxies.
