The 2026 Burton Family Tree Hometown Hero X-Ray should be your daily driver when carving icy slopes in Australia or cutting through tight trees in Canada. The directional shape with added taper floats effortlessly on deeper days while camber profile and mid-stiff flex keep it stable and poppy while riding questionable terrain. Go fast and dominate any terrain with this do-it-all quiver of a snowboard.
Board Type: All Mountain-Freeride
All Mountain snowboards are versatile boards that excel across various terrains, from groomed runs to off-piste. These boards offer solid edge control and responsiveness, making them a great option for riders who want one board to do just about everything.
Freeride snowboards are built for steeper, off-piste terrain. These boards are ideal for aggressive riding and usually for more advanced riders.
Flex: 6.5/10 (1=soft, 10=stiff)
Offering a balanced blend of flexibility and stiffness, mid-flex boards are versatile and suitable for all-mountain riding. They provide enough responsiveness for carving while maintaining some forgiveness for playful or casual riding.
Ability Level: Intermediate-Advanced
Intermediate snowboards offer more responsiveness and stability at higher speeds, with a slightly stiffer flex for better control on varied terrain and more advanced manoeuvres.
Advanced snowboards are stiffer and more responsive, designed for high-speed control, precision riding, and handling challenging terrain or tricks.
Shape: Tapered Directional/Twin

A tapered directional snowboard features a shape where the tail is narrower than the nose, providing enhanced control and stability in deeper snow. This design improves floatation in powder and allows for smoother turns, making it ideal for freeride and backcountry riding. While it excels in one direction, the taper helps the board naturally guide you through challenging conditions.

Twin Flex has a perfectly symmetrical design from tip to tail, delivering more balance and versatility for an effortless ride, whether you’re riding regular or switch.
Camber Type: Directional Camber

Directional Camber puts rocker in the nose of the board, adding extra float in powder while retaining the response and stability of traditional camber which offers unmatched power, response, and edge control.
Width: Standard, Wide
Standard width boards deliver exceptional edge-to-edge quickness and responsiveness while providing enough platform space for riders with average boot sizes.
Wide boards are for those with large boot sizes and provide extra flotation, reduced drag, and never feel clunky or cumbersome underfoot.
Inserts: The Channel
The Burton Channel forgoes the traditional mounting system and introduces a channel for your front and rear inserts. This allows you to fine-tune your stance width and gives you more freedom in your stance location. The Channel is compatible with most major binding brands, but works best with Burton EST bindings.
Board Construction

Laminate: 45° Carbon Highlights
45° Carbon Highlights is a tip to tail carbon layer reduces weight and contains 45° angled fibres, fine tuning the torsional flex to make a more aggressive ride.
Core: Super Fly II 700G Core with Dualzone EGD and Squeezebox

The Super Fly II 700G Core features stronger and lighter woods targeted in specific areas, which provides more pop and strength while reducing weight.
Dualzone EGD aligns the wood grain in the core along the heel and toe edge in two unbroken zones perpendicular to the rest of the core, which gives consistent edge hold and strength.

Squeezebox consists of thicker, more powerful sections combined with thinner, more flexible sections profiled throughout the core. This enhances energy transfer and makes the board snappier and more stable.
Base: Sintered WFO
Standing for Wide F!#@ing Open, this base made from an extra absorbent, high density sintered material that is infused with a specially formulated wax, resulting in an ultra durable base that rides Wide F!#@ing Open.
Additional Features:
- Balanced Freeride Geometry
A setback camber and stance-centred sidecut makes this board feel like a twin when riding flat based, but still has the tight turns and effortless float you'd expect from a directional board.
Burton is able to maximise pop and performance by overbuilding their boards in the factory, and then using machinery to break it down for you. This allows your board to ride the same from day one, to day 100, season after season.
The tip and tail of this board taper out at the points, reducing swing weight and promoting mobility.
