PAINT, DRAW, CREATE TO WIN A 2025 CAPiTA AERONAUT!

CAPiTA ART COMPETITION - Judged By Arthur Longo.

We all know that snowboarding is an artform rather than a sport. The act of drawing lines through a blank white canvas captivates and enthralls riders and viewers alike. Very few are on the same level of artisanship as French pro rider Arthur Longo. His talent extends beyond the snowboard and emanates through all facets of life. The Aeronaut by Capita is his pro model board which, for the second year running, is fittingly adorned by his Art.

The story of Arthurs rise through snowboarding is befitting of a Renaissance man. Expelled from a  school for gifted athletes only to represent France at the Olympics just 5 years later in the Halfpipe. Then, after two French Olympic Team appearances he shifted focus and has since dropped some of the most impressive videos parts of the last decade. His riding combines an innate ability to make the uncanny possible and simple fluid style that gets the viewer stoked to go snowboarding. Highly technical yet simply approachable and timelessly stylish.

His breakout web series SHE - Side Hit Euphoria, released in 2018, blended his abilities as Olympian Halfpipe competitor with the familiar terrain of inbounds resort terrain. Focused on the humble side hit, something that every snowboarder can relate to, it super charged the outcome with Arthur going larger than most and finding landings in transitions smaller than the corner table at your local coffee shop. Since 2018 Arthur has given priority to an emerging art practice. During 2020 tipping point was reached with the beginning of a studio practice in Berlin. His paintings are bright and abstract, reminiscent of a more positive Basquiat! If you are interested in his art practice Wasted Talent Magazine has an amazing interview. Check it out here

In 2024 enter the Aeronaut! Capita Snowboards gave Arthur his first pro model snowboard. A more directional take on the popular Capita Mercury. Arthurs board is a directional tapered freestyle, freeride beast that is most at home on an edge, at speed, trying to boost your favourite side hit, just like Arthur.

As a celebration of creativity, Capita Snowboards and Melbourne Snowboard Centre are holding an Art Competition.

The Brief: Create your own version of the Capita Aeronaut Graphics. Draw, Paint, Sketch or Design a graphic for the Aeronaut that reflects on the 2025 Aeronaut.

"This painting was made in a very short amount of time after getting a phone call from my best friend. He wanted to get a piece of art for his newborn. That really inspired me to dive into a soft and colorful representation of a main character surrounded by some fellow creatures. It’s called Curiosity to underline the importance of being open to other people and our differences in general."
